Mission Create, develop and inspire innovative dance.
Background Perpetual Motion Dance is an Oklahoma City based non-profit dance company. Founded in 2002, Perpetual Motion Dance has since grown to become the premier modern and aerial dance company in Oklahoma.
The company's repertory is evocative, visceral and innovative, aspiring to harness the energies of the human imagination. Original cutting edge works, created by company choreographers as well as nationally-acclaimed guest artists, transform Perpetual Motion's concerts each year. Perpetual Motion is the first company in Oklahoma to incorporate aerial dance, setting them apart as a groundbreaking company. In 2006, Perpetual Motion began the annual Oklahoma Contemporary Dance Festival, which brings together local dancers and choreographers for a month long series of rehearsals and classes. In addition to presenting annual concerts in Oklahoma City, Perpetual Motion tours both regionally and nationally, including: ROGUE (CA), Out of the Loop Festival (TX), PILOT: Choreographers Take Flight (TX), and the New Genre Festival (OK).
Impact Perpetual Motion Dance is Oklahoma’s premier modern and aerial dance company, known for innovative choreography and three-dimensional performances. The company has experienced tremendous artistic and financial growth over the last two seasons, through increased touring, audience development and additional funding sources. Since 2011, Perpetual Motion has increased their revenue by 100%.   Perpetual Motion was one of four regional organizations awarded the Artistic Innovations pilot grant from the Mid-America Arts Alliance for our 2013 concert “Water Won’t Wait."  Perpetual Motion was subsequently invited to perform the concert for Live at the Crossroads in Kansas City in September 2013.

Perpetual Motion participates in the Oklahoma Arts Council “Performing Arts Corps” program where we provide short residencies and performances to K-12 schools, most recently Haworth Public Schools, Apple Creek Elementary and Blanchard Public Schools. Additionally, Perpetual Motion completed a ten-performance tour of the Metropolitan Library System in Fall 2012 including Edmond, OKC, Del City and Mid-West City, funded in part by the Oklahoma Arts Council.

The company has toured regionally and nationally including Fresno, California, Dallas, TX, Little Rock, AR, Kansas City, MO and well as across the state of Oklahoma.

Needs

Perpetual Motion is currently in need of purchasing an additional dance floor for touring performances, as well as replacing our aerial dance equipment and rigging. $3000

The company has contracted an Administrative Assistant and is seeking additional funding to continue the contract on a six-month basis. $4600
