Sharing the love of four-part a cappella singing, with excellence, with our community while encouraging others to join us in barbershop harmony.
Background In 1938, Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma was the third barbershop chorus to join what is now the Barbershop Harmony Society. In the years since then, we have enjoyed entertaining audiences in the greater Oklahoma City area and central Oklahoma.

Our chorus has an active membership of approximately 50 guys from their teens into their 90’s. Some are outstanding musicians, others just love to sing. The thing that binds us as a chorus and a family is the love of the barbershop sound, the camaraderie during our practices and performances, and the enjoyment of entertaining our audiences.

We often compete in organized Barbershop Harmony Society competitions, and have competed at the international level six times. But we especially enjoy entertaining audiences with our annual shows in the spring and one in the fall (near Christmas), and singing for numerous other occasions. One of our greatest thrills is having seven or eight of our barbershop quartets deliver singing valentines every February.
Continue to demonstrate excellence in our singing style and community involvement as Oklahoma's premier men's chorus, as illustrated by previous activities such as:
  • Donation of $8000 from Singing Valentines and Spring and Christmas shows to the Children's Center Rehabilitation Hospital
  • Provision of scholarships to the OK City chorus' Youth In Harmony workshop and the music programs of local school districts
  • Participation in Barbershop Harmony Society chorus and quartet competitions

Description Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma is a men's barbershop chorus, dedicated to preserving and promoting the art of a capella singing in the four-part harmony style commonly referred to as barbershop. This is accomplished through performances, seminars, exhibitions and competitions. Today, Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma has a roster of nearly 60 singers of all ages and from all walks of life. Included among the active membership are quartets, both new and old, who along with the chorus itself provide entertainment across the State.
Population Served Adults Children and Youth (0 - 19 years)
Description Vocal Sounds of Oklahoma recognizes the physical and emotional benefits singing in a group provides, and wants to bring these benefits to as many youth as possible. We are always looking for opportunities to support youth singing in our schools and communities, from purchasing ads in printed concert programs, to donating silent auction baskets, to performing in concerts benefiting school choir programs. A portion of our annual budget is directed to support The Children's Center Rehabilitative Hospital in Bethany, Oklahoma, and selected music programs of central Oklahoma schools.
