The Metro Tech Foundation exists to secure funds to enhance and improve facilities and programs at Metro Technology Centers. For over 25 years the Foundation has provided scholarships and financial assistance on an individual basis to adult and high-school students. The Foundation undertakes any project considered by our Board of Directors to be in the best interests of the district and its students. Experience

Debra Ponder-Nelson's responsibilites are to expand and diversify the Foundation’s revenue base, grow scholarships, and increase student emergency funding by increasing community awareness and building business relationships.

Previous to accepting the position at the Metro Tech Foundation, Debra served as the Vice President of Corporate Sales and Client Services for the Southwest Minority Supplier Development Council (SMSDC) for the past two years. She was responsible for generating revenue from corporate recruitment and retention and growing financial sponsorships in Oklahoma, Southwest Texas, and New Mexico.  She also served as the President and CEO of the Oklahoma Minority Supplier Development Council (OMSDC) a statewide nonprofit organization for 23 years. She spearheaded the overall planning, development and implementation of programs and services to enhance the mission and outreach effort of the council by fostering business relationships and building alliances between major corporations and hundreds of minority businesses in the state of Oklahoma. Debra was responsible for recruiting and retaining local and national major corporate members and recruiting and retaining Oklahoma minority businesses for certification. She facilitated and built collaborative partnerships and relationships with chambers, businesses, resource agencies, community and political leaders, individuals, volunteers and stakeholders to help achieve the goals of the organization. In order to secure financial stability for continued viability for the OMSDC, Debra executed revenue generating programs and services, secured sponsorships and successfully wrote and secured state and private grants.
