The Francis Tuttle Foundation is focused on funding student success. There are times when students face financial challenges that could hinder the completion of their career training program. Through our foundation, students apply for financial assistance to help with expenses related to tuition, books, and program-appropriate supplies. Students may also receive emergency funds to assist with unexpected financial situations.  One of our greatest needs is for transportation for young adults to be able to attend class.

With the generous charitable support of individuals, corporations, and foundations throughout the community, our students have the opportunity to overcome these challenges and achieve their academic and career goals.  We accept gift by check, telephone and in-kind donations.  We also seek volunteers to serve on advisory committees for each program.

Mission Since 1984, our purpose has been to provide financial assistance to the students of Francis Tuttle Technology Center.  Through scholarships and emergency funding, the Francis Tuttle Foundation is helping students overcome financial obstacles to achieve their academic goals and ultimately, successful entry into the workforce.  We do this through gifts and grants from our employees, our alumni and the community.
Background The Foundation started in 1984 by a small group of individuals that saw students struggling to make it to class.  An endowment was established and employees started giving annually.  The Foundation was run by volunteers for years and then it was given to an employee currently working at Francis Tuttle as part of their job description.  Today the Foundation employees a part-time Executive Director, a part-time accountant and a part-time allocations coordinator.  We have a committed board of 22 members, all who contribute to the cause.  The employees of Francis Tuttle give with an extraordinary level of 64% participation.  
Impact Our accomplishments over the past year were to give out double what we gave 2 years ago.  We accomplished this goal and were able to assist almost 200 students to complete their program.  We worked to identify those students who were ineligible for financial aid.  We found out that around 433 of our adult students are currently unable to receive any type of federal funding.  We also worked to help find support for our Melrose program which helps non-violent offenders get their GED and be trained in the construction field.  We were able to raise enough funds to provide a tutor for these men and through that have increased their success rate from 74% to 95%!
Transportation for students to school and for some to their first job until they get their first paycheck.  This could be Uber cards, gas cards and bus passes. $10,000 per year
Tuition assistance for those students who do not qualify for financial aid - $1,500,000
Basic Needs - Food, clothing, utilities  $25,000/year
Childcare - $10,000/year 
Emergency housing - $20,000/year
School books/kits for classes and uniforms for classes - $20,000/year 
CEO/Executive Director Statement The help we provide through the Francis Tuttle Foundation changes lives.  I see the good work we do every day.  There is nothing more satisfying than seeing a human meet their potential.  We take stewarding gifts seriously.  Every student we help is vetted through a process.  Each student meets with a counselor and all resources are exhausted before they come to the foundation.  We have purchased bikes for students who couldn't afford to get to school any other way, we have helped single moms with child care so they could get to class, we see over and over the commitment of the human spirit to better themselves despite many many obstacles.  Overall our gifts are small to the needs these students have but even small gifts change lives.
Board Chair Statement I have worked in Career Tech most of my life and am proud to serve at President for this organization.  Every dollar truly helps a student that comes to the Francis Tuttle Foundation seeking assistance.   Just getting to class is a major hurdle for some of these young people.  We strive to take away the most basic barriers we all take for granted in our daily lives.  How special and rewarding it is to watch a young person find a pathway to a better life.  We an honored to have a part in this process.
