Mission Our mission is to advance excellence, create champions and build strong community support for lasting change in Oklahoma City Public Schools.

The Foundation for Oklahoma City Public Schools was founded more than 25 years ago as part of a collaborative vision to improve the quality of education in our community. The only organization focused solely on the Oklahoma City Public Schools, the Foundation's programs support teaching excellence, remove barriers to learning and promote student growth andachievement for the largest urban district in the state.

The Foundation’s award-winning programs include Competitive Edge, Teachers Warehouse, Stars of Education, Advancing TeachingExcellence, and Great Idea Grants. TheFoundation is the winner of the Oklahoma Foundation for Excellence’s 2010 Outstanding Local Education Foundation Program Award for Competitive Edge, 2009 Outstanding Local Education Foundation Program Award for Teachers Warehouse,2006 Outstanding Local Education Foundation Program Award for Partners in Education, the 2000 Medal of Excellence Award, and the 1998 Award for Nonprofit Management Excellence.

At the community level, The Foundation played a critical role in gaining widespread support for MAPS for Kids and bond issues that are providing groundbreaking capital improvements, technology, transportation needs and improved safety and security for the District. As the work to build or remodel nearly every school in the district closes, the daunting challenge of improving performance inside Oklahoma City’s schools remains. The two-pronged purpose of MAPS for Kids made crystal clear success for both is necessary. The Foundation is leading the sustained and focused effort among all stakeholders to create the schools our students and our city need.
