Mission Our mission shall be to enable citizens of  Choctaw, Oklahoma to promote the acquisition, beautification and improvement of public parks, park ways, and roadsides in and around Choctaw, Oklahoma
Background
The Choctaw Park Foundation received the  501 (c) (3) status on February 11, 2004.  On July 14, 2006 the Endowment Fund for the Perpetual Care of the Historical Sculpture Gardens was opened with $12,000 from the Choctaw Park Foundation and $8,000 grant monies from the Kirkpatrick Family Fund. The Foundation has continued to grow and remain active through our annual fundraisers, thus continuing to place monies into the Endowment Fund.
Impact
At this time, the Choctaw Park Foundation is in a building mode for its Endowment Fund.  All efforts are toward this end.  All funds from donations and fund raisers are deposited into the Endowment Fund for the Perpetual Care of the Historical Sculpture Gardens on N.E. 23rd Street.
Needs
Volunteers are always needed for the two main fund raising activities, which are hot chocolate and S'More Kits at Halloween in the Park and for the Land Run Bike Ride in April of every year.  Donations are always much appreciated at any time. We need people to work/volunteer in the Gardens; weed the plots, help with watering and general maintenance.
CEO/Executive Director Statement

The Historical Sculpture Gardens on N. E. 23rd in Choctaw are a definite asset to the appearance of the city. Many comments and accolades are received concerning the beauty and uniqueness of the Gardens. The  landscaping that the CPF has provided makes the city appear much more inviting for potential businesses, as well as people driving through Choctaw on 23rd Street.

Board Chair Statement

Jeannie and Herb Abts founded the CPF 7 years ago, but have worked tirelessly for over 20 years on the beautification of Choctaw. They took a raw stretch of land bordering 23rd Street and formed 12 plots, including trees, shrubs, and seasonal plants. Then the Historical Sculpture Gardens were added; 19 larger-than-life shadow figures portraying the Land Run with horseback riders, wagons, farmers, and ranchers. This area has been a source of pride and enjoyment for the community, a welcome addition to our town . However, over the past few years, the Abts have been unable to maintain these large areas of gardens alone and some other source is needed to help with their constant maintenance. We are approaching the City government with the hope of an assist from their maintenance crew, helping with mowing, general clean up and watering. We do two fundraiser during the year; hot chocolate and S'more kits at the Halloween-in-the-Park festivities, and our annual Land Run Bike Ride (10 - 50 miles) in April, to coincide with the city's 3-day Land Run festivities for the schools. I have chosen to volunteer with the Abts because I have seen the efforts they have made to enrich the community, giving time and money and the sweat of their brow. I hope the small amount I do furthers the cause to beautify our community and "keep Choctaw green!"

CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
The main focus for the Choctaw Park Foundation in the next few years will be fund raising. Until sufficient funds are available for hiring more permanent maintanence for the Historical Sculpture Gardens, we will continue to strive for that goal.

Comments on Financials
CEO/Executive Director/Board Comments
To clarify the above financial information, revenues are saved up and then a lump sum is put into the Endowment Fund.  Thus the expenses are monies out of the Choctaw Parks Foundation bank account into the Endowment Fund at the Oklahoma City Community Foundation.  Generally, the only monies used out of the bank account for expenses are the purchase of shirts for the Landrun Bike Ride, hot chocolate for the Haunted Trails event and rent for the post office box.
Foundation Staff Comments
