Mission Answering God’s call to seek justice and mercy by providing legal services to the poor and needy.
Background
Trinity Legal Clinic of Oklahoma ("Trinity Legal") exists because there is poverty, and with poverty, vulnerable people who need access to quality legal representation. There are over 200 Scriptures in the Bible revealing God's call for justice for the poor. Proverbs 31:8-9, "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute, speak up and judge fairly, defend the rights of the poor and needy." Micah 6:8, "He has shown you, O mortal, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God." God cares about justice. God cares about the poor. In 2006, a group of Christian attorneys answered this call by establishing Trinity Legal.

We strive to accomplish our mission by:
  • Partnering with local community ministries to host legal aid clinics.
  • Offering presentations and publications on poverty law issues.
  • Matching lower income clients who have ongoing legal needs to pro-bono attorneys and firms.

Many people remain in poverty because the legal issues they face present an absolute barrier as they work to break free from the cycles of poverty. Trinity Legal provides services critical to the rehabilitation of these individuals by offering access to attorneys without charge to individuals and families in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area. In an effort to not merely provide a band-aid for the client but to participate in a holistic approach to addressing the real-life struggles of clients, Trinity Legal partners with other non-profits. Together with the community partners, Trinity Legal's clients not only have their legal needs addressed, but also have access to drug rehabilitation, budgeting classes, job search assistance, spiritual guidance and counseling--resources necessary to help them navigate life and hopefully avoid any future unnecessary legal issues.

Today, our program is supported by over 60 active volunteers: lawyers, paralegals, law students, interpreters, and other professionals who come together to provide quality, compassionate legal counsel and practical guidance to our neighbors in the Oklahoma City metropolitan area.

For those who are desperate, facing tomorrow with a seemingly impossible legal issue and no one to call and no money to hire an attorney, now is the time answer God's call to "Seek Justice. Help the oppressed. Defend the cause of orphans. Fight for the rights of widows." (Isaiah 1:17)
